Keskus perustettiin vuonna 1998 ja on itään Southendista Christchurchin keskustassa. Opetuskeskus ylitti sen alkuperäisen hallin sijainnin ja nauttii maineensa opiskelijoiden menestyksestä paikallisyhteisön keskuudessa. Southend East -tutkimuskeskuksessa on Kumonin tutkimuksen eri aloilla koulutettuja 12 luokan avustajaa, jotka tukevat yli 150 eri-ikäistä ja kykyistä opiskelijaa. Opiskelijat voivat aloittaa opiskelun missä tahansa ikäryhmässä esikoulusta ylöspäin. Useimmat opiskelijat pääsevät luokkahuoneeseen itsenäisesti, vaikka esikoululaisille tarjotaan apua. Nämä nuoret opiskelijat työskentelevät varhaisen oppimisen avustajan kanssa vahvojen työtaitojen kehittämiseksi, edistyessään tuettuun oppimisalueeseemme, kunnes he ovat valmiita oppimaan itsestään, jotta he voivat hyödyntää täyden potentiaalinsa matematiikassa ja englannissa.
